What’s Your Favorite Place for Dessert in Siesta Key?

We sold our house earlier this year as our oldest went off to college last fall, and we thought we would try something new. However, we didn’t find a house we wanted to buy quickly enough to make an easy transition. To make lemonade out of a lemon, we decided to try living on a key. Accordingly, we ended up doing an off-season rental of a home on Siesta Key.

Siesta Key Desserts are as Iconic as the Lifeguard Houses!

That gives us time to find the right place to buy later this year, and it gives us experience with beach living. All our living to date in the area has been in a country club community, so this is a great change of pace. Also, it will give us an idea if we like this lifestyle better than what we have experienced to date. While we haven’t answered the question yet, we have found some great places to have dessert in the village.

Being a short bike ride away from the village, my 10-year-old daughter has helped us make the most of it. We often head into the village after dinner to find a good dessert. Here are our three favorites after the first month.

Big Olaf Creamery – The ice cream is amazing, and the shakes will simply wear you out. I feel much better when we bike here as I need the exercise to combat the calories. ? That said, regardless of the calories, we will keep coming back.

Meaney’s Mini Donuts & Coffee House – The freshly made mini-donuts can be ordered with a variety of toppings, but our favorite is cinnamon sugar. Get yourself a six pack of mini donuts and enjoy the experience.

Made in Rome Organic Gelato – While there is a great assortment of flavors from which to choose, we have locked in on the chocolate. It is to die for. The experience is authentic, and the service is great.

All three are a short distance apart, so you don’t have to make up your mind until you get there. Regardless of your choice, we found you can’t go wrong by going into the village. So far, our Siesta Key living experience has been great!
