Three Bold Colors to Paint Your Front Door

Before you walk into a new home, the first thing you see is the front door. It the equivalent of the first impression when, “meeting,” a house. That being said, the color of your front door matters not only when selling the home, but also when you move into one. While the most common colors are neutral tones, such as brown or tan, that just does not fit everyone’s personality. Here are what realtors say are the top bold colors for your front door, and what the color says about you.

Red

Red makes a daring statement. It is a conversation starter, while still falling into the category of being a traditional color for a front door. Red symbolizes power, energy, and passion. To me, it shows strength in a home. Red doors look excellent with brick-and-mortar exteriors and cool-toned, light neutral exteriors. If you want a “fun,” color that is not too over the top, go with a classic red door.

Green

Green doors emulate elegance. While we may be across the pond, green doors are the number one selling color in Great Britain.  Green symbolizes – no surprises here – wealth and prosperity. It also represents serenity and peace. A rich green tone perfectly accents a host of different exterior colors, though most commonly it is found on brick-and-mortar homes or those that are near or off-white. If you want a door that shows integrity and sophistication, go with a tasteful green door.

Blue

Blue doors are becoming more and more popular, and in sunny Florida, it is easy to see why. You can go in so many different directions with a blue door. On one hand, you could go with a more traditional navy blue, which ties in well with a nautical themed home and shows confidence. If you’re feeling more adventurous, teal is the ideal choice. In my opinion, teal screams Floridian, and is perfect for the seaside town of Sarasota.
